8 charged with DUI in separate cases

At 10:30 p.m. on June 4, Gavin Oglesbee, 19, of Kyser, W. Va., was stopped by state police on South Route 15, near the Lycoming Township exit, when his 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee was clocked traveling 85 mph in a posted 65 mph zone.
Oglesbee had bloodshot eyes, had an odor of burnt marijuana on him and admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day. He also had around 1/8 oz of marijuana in the vehicle, which was found during a consensual search of the vehicle police allege.
Oglesbee failed a field sobriety test, and lab results were positive for the presence of THC.
He was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, two summary offenses and was released.
In another case, at 1:30 on March 18, Porshia Wilson, 31, of 1813 Hazel Drive, was pulled over by city police after they observed her 2014 Nissan Maxima making a wide turn from West Fourth Street onto Maynard Street, resulting the vehicle traveling into the oncoming traffic lane for a short distance. The vehicle continued driving erratically and traveling 52 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.
Upon pulling into the Fairfield Inns & Suites Marriott Hotel, the vehicle continued to drive until it reached the front of the hotel. As police approached, they detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Wilson. Her eyes were glassy, bloodshot and had a slight gaze. Her speech was slurred and her actions were slow, police allege.
Wilson stated that she had consumed five Red Cats at a local club, but had left to go home when a fight broke out, relating, “someone was about to get shot,” according to an affidavit.
Wilson failed a field sobriety test and had a BAC of .20.
She was charged with DUI, a summary offense, waived her preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, at 1:30 a.m. on May 20, Dustin Simcox, 35, of 937 Arch St., was stopped by state police after his 2014 Subaru Legacy was clocked going 90 mph in a posted 55 mph zone on I-80 west near the Faxon Interchange.
Simcox’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot and his speech was slurred, police allege. Police also detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Simcox admitted to having consumed alcohol prior to driving.
A records check revealed that Simcox’s driving privileges were currently revoked due to previous DUI, according to court documents.
Simcox failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .12.
He was charged with DUI, four summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, at 11:15 p.m. on April 25, Matthew Bittenbender, 53, of 327 Louisa St., was pulled over by city police after a records check showed that the registration for his 2016 BMW 535 Series had expired in March.
Bittenbender had glassy, bloodshot eyes and there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, police allege.
Bittenbender denied having consumed alcohol prior to driving. When asked about the strong odor, told police he did not know, an affidavit said.
Bittenbender failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a preliminary breath test, citing concerns over calibration, as well as false positives. He also refused lab work.
He was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
At midnight on March 26, Matthew Hamilton, 31, of 324 Broadway St., Hughesville, was stopped by state police in the area of Market Street and East Mountain Avenue in South Williamsport, after they observed a faulty exhaust system on his 2010 Chevrolet Colorado.
Hamilton had glassy, bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol was detected from the vehicle, police allege. Hamilton admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving.
He failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .11.
Hamilton was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, at 10 p.m. on June 3, Mason Aikey, 23, of 91 Strawbridge Hill Road, Hughesville, was stopped by state police on I-180 West, just past the Lycoming Mall exit, after police observed his 2016 Ford Focus cross the fog line four times.
Aikey had glassy, bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol was detected from the vehicle, police allege.
Aikey failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .11.
He was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, 11:45 p.m. on December 28, 2022, Tyler McKinney, 31, of 812 Park Place, was pulled over by state police after they observed his 2011 Subaru WRX/STI fail to make a complete stop at Market Street and Washington Boulevard. Police further noted that his right front turn signal was out, as indicated by the real turn signal blinking faster than normal.
During questioning, McKinney stated that he had consumed a Long Island Iced Tea at the Bar on Market prior to driving, court documents state.
He failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .11.
McKinney was charged with DUI, four summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, at 1 a.m. on March 25, Zachariah Ouellette, 22, of 32 South Main Ave., Apartment 2, Montgomery, was stopped by state police after they observed the registration on his 2002 Honda Accord had expired in December as he attempted to enter I-80 Eastbound at Third Street.
Ouellette had red, bloodshot eyes and an odor of burnt marijuana was detected from the vehicle, police allege.
Initially, Ouellette told police he had just picked up an intoxicated friend from a bar because he did not want him to drive and admitted that his driver’s license was currently suspended due to unpaid tickets. When asked about the marijuana odor, Ouellette stated that it may be coming from a sweatshirt in his back seat that belonged to his coworkers, who had smoked marijuana during their break, but that he had not partaken, according to an affidavit.
After failing a field sobriety test and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE), Ouellette admitted that he had also smoked marijuana during his break.
Lab results were positive for the presence of THC and amphetamines.
Ouellette was charged with DUI, three summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
