State Rep. Wolgamott Cited for Two Charges, Including Operating While Intoxicated

Jul 12, 2023

(KNSI) – The Kanabec County Attorney’s Office released the blood alcohol test results for Representative Dan Wolgamott on Monday afternoon.

The St. Cloud-area lawmaker has been charged and cited for fourth-degree driving while impaired and operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration above 0.08. His blood alcohol level registered at .099. Both charges are misdemeanor offenses.

The incident occurred on July 7th. Kanabec County Sheriff’s deputies were called just after 6:00 p.m. for a man spotted drinking alcohol from an open container in a liquor store parking lot.

Wolgamott told KNSI News in a statement last month that he was on his way to a wedding. He went on to say, “I wholeheartedly apologize to my family, my friends, my colleagues, and my constituents, and thank the law enforcement officers who made sure I got home safe.

“I take full responsibility for my actions, and I ask for your forgiveness. I am committed to doing the work I need to do in my life to ensure nothing like this ever happens again and that my actions live up to the trust you have placed in me.”

Wolgamott is part of the DFL Party’s House leadership. He was selected as Speaker Pro Tempore for the last legislative session.
